We invite you to contact the Caring Ministry if you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities listed below. Please email caring@fpcyork.org or call and leave a voicemail message at 717-848-8869. Thank you in advance for your consideration!

Reception

Be the first smiling face people see when they enter the Caring Ministry. As a receptionist, we ask that you answer our phones; write down voicemail messages; and check in neighbors for the Client Choice food, Babies’ Room, and utility appointments. Reception opportunities are available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Food Truck Deliveries

The Caring Ministry receives delivery trucks from Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and York County Food Bank. Our Central Pennsylvania Food Bank delivery truck typically arrives in the morning of the first Thursday of each month. Our York County Food Bank delivery truck also arrives on Thursday mornings - these dates vary each month. We are always looking for additional help to unload the truck, sort the delivery, and stock our shelves.

Food Pick-up

The Caring Ministry receives food donations from several local organizations (Rutter’s, Bethesda Mission, Catholic Harvest, and York County Food Bank) and is looking for individuals who can pick up donations on selected days and deliver the items to the Caring Ministry.

Pantry Restocking Volunteers

Every Monday and Thursday morning, our pantry restocking volunteers gather to refill and organize our food shelves as well as help with general task items to make our pantry run smoothly.

Client Choice Food Pantry

Help neighbors during their appointments select food for their family from our Ruth Kammer Food Pantry. Client choice Food appointments are Tuesday mornings and afternoons, Wednesday mornings and afternoons, and Thursday afternoons. Training is required prior to helping our neighbors.

Fundraising and Financial Help

Throughout the year, we offer several fundraising opportunities for people to contribute to the Caring Ministry. We rely on the success of these fundraising programs to sustain our mission and work in the community. We are also always needing volunteers to help make these efforts a success. When you give of your time and/or financially to the Caring Ministry, you are directly impacting and improving the lives of those who live right here in our community. Your contributions help to fund our many outreach programs. We are grateful for your support!
